| Principal Duties: | Coordinate the activities of Payroll.
Responsible for the timely processing of payroll for salaried staff (bi-weekly) and hourly (bi-weekly) within strict, specified deadlines and within labour contract and federal legislation. This includes: inputting adjustments; special pay; deductions; memo codes; vacation pay requests; produce records of employment (ROE) for terminations and casual employees. Review payroll for accuracy prior to distribution. Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts; reconcile remittances to government agencies; complete various Stats Canada surveys. Prepare and process T4's for year-end; balance T4's to payments made and file annual returns with federal and provincial governments and WCB agencies. Prepare various reports on a periodic basis; analysis of payroll related accounts. Prepare and submit cheque requests for various payments relating to the processing of payroll (provincial taxes, RRSP/DPSP, union dues, health & welfare, WCB, etc.). Verify payments of withholding taxes made to government by payroll provider (ADP). Ensure updates on all payrolls happen on a timely basis: change in deduction amounts; change in tax rates, etc. Set up new payroll codes with ADP as well as any reports that may be affected. Ensure all deadlines are met for payroll processing, all payments, filing of T4's, annual returns, etc. Other duties as assigned in support of the Payroll and HR Department's functions and other tasks as may be assigned. Work primarily within the Winnipeg General Offices. Day shift with some overtime. |
| Minimum Requirements: | Knowledge or experience with ADP Payroll/PCPW, ReportSmith, and Kronos Timekeeper Central.
Completion of secondary school required. Payroll Compliance Practitioner required, Certified Payroll Manager an asset. Minimum of at least four years experience in Payroll, two years Supervisory experience. Knowledge or experience with ADP Payroll. Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality and security. Strong ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels in the organization and with external customers. Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines; plan and organize workload of self and staff; multi-task and prioritze. Intermediate to advanced level in MS Office applications (Excel and Word). Attention to detail, strong analytical and problem solving skills, flexibility, dependability, team player, and customer focus. |
